Crushing Growth
The old food vs. fuel debate never ends. I am of the opinion that our farmers and agribusinesses can more than compensate for the needs of both. For example, take this announcement from ADM. They’re going to increase oilseed crushing capacity at a number of plants. I’m sure this is just one example of how we’ll continue to develop alternative fuel sources while still feeding the world.
That’s a lot of Soybeans
Here’s Kip and Dale (Kip Cullers and Dale Ludwig – l-r). I have to post this since Haley Wansing sent a picture and I’ve received about a half a dozen news releases on it. You see, Kip has a world record soybean production record. He farms in Purdy, MO. If you read this segment from MSA’s news release you can figure out where the other news releases came from.

My goodness, this is like deja vu. Mike Miller will be anchoring agricultural news on RFD-TV starting in January. I haven’t seen Mike in many years but was thrilled to run into him in Kansas City last week. Mike’s always been a good friend.
In fact, Mike talked me into working with him on an agricultural tv venture in Houston, Texas many moons ago. (Remember that Mike?) I stayed at his house and we commuted in to the studios each day. Oh my gosh does that bring back memories. That was before I joined Learfield Communications and the Brownfield Network and moved to Jefferson City, MO.

Here’s one of my next stops on the agricultural marketing highway. The Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association will be holding their convention in Minneapolis next week. I’ll be part of a panel titled, “Marketing Communications Strategies & Tactics.” It’s going to be on Tuesday afternoon and features some real experts like, Dale Bentlage of Global Reach Internet Productions, Joe Baitinger of Farm Market ID and Connor Flynn of Lessing Flynn.
