Radius From Bayer CropScience Recieves EPA Registration

Chuck Zimmerman

Hot off the press from Bayer CropScience. So hot I didn’t see it on their own website yet! It’s always news when a new product receives it’s EPA approval. In this case corn growers now have a new product in their arsenal.

Chem Search Image

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—Following successful tests at the University of Florida, a company is making its crop management database on pesticides available to research and extension faculty at land-grant universities across the nation.

“When our research and extension faculty said they needed accurate, up-to-date information on pesticides from 104 manufacturers, we began a unique business arrangement with Crop Data Management Systems Inc.” said Daniel Sonke, an assistant coordinator for the integrated pest management (IPM) program at UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences in Gainesville.

“We selected CDMS because the company has developed an excellent, searchable online database for agricultural and specialty chemicals. Their ChemSearch database, which is updated daily, provides instant information on more than 1,600 products, along with label instructions, worker protection standards and other information about these products – information that’s essential when our faculty make recommendations to growers and residents about using these products on agricultural crops, turfgrass and ornamentals.” (From joint University of FL and CDMS release)

SeedSearch Database Now Integrated into ChemCheck Software

(Marysville, CA, May 3, 2005) CDMS’s ChemCheck has been enhanced to include seed and variety information imported from CDMS’s SeedSearch Database. Field advisors, consultants and growers that use Chemcheck can now select their seed variety from a drop down box listing products included in SeedSearch.

NRECA Gets The Legislative Word Out

Chuck Zimmerman

This week I have a great opportunity to showcase one of our Talking News Release clients, National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (NRECA). They use us to distribute good, timely news information to radio reporters, especially from meetings like their just-completed Legislative Conference where they brought in over 3,200 members from around the country to learn about issues and lobby their congressmen.

There are 5 key issues for these folks to work on as identified by the organization. Besides the face time with elected officials NRECA wants to generate more public awareness of these issues back home and certain issues are more important in some states than others. So, we produced several versions of the same basic release, which contain links to sound bites from Glenn English, NRECA CEO and local leaders in the areas being targeted.

You can listen to my interview with Glenn English here: Glenn English Interview
Don’t you just love this artistic photo shot of me interviewing Glenn? Ok, so it wasn’t supposed to turn out this way – but I think it looks cool!

You can also open each of the releases we produced using Glenn’s audio and other individuals in Arizona, California, Georgia, North Dakota and Oregon. These were sent to radio station reporters in each state and surrounding states. Additionally, we produced a more general one to send to farm broadcasters in other areas.

Molly Moo & Kids Too

Chuck Zimmerman

Beef Day at the Missouri Capitol featured a proclamation from the governor (who didn’t show up in person) proclaiming May, Beef Month in Missouri. These kids were there to learn more about beef, see live cows and get their picture taken with Molly Moo, the cardboard cutout.

Cows & Kids

A picture is worth a thousand words. That’ s why I like using them. Saves me on the writing side.

We had Beef Day at the Capitol here in Missouri this week. Cindy covered it while I was in Washington, DC with NAFB and NRECA.

Here’s one of the ways the public was able to learn more about those tasty animals. This is actually right outside the state capitol building on the lawn!

At this week’s Missouri Agricultural Leaders Luncheon Lane McConnell, Brownfield Network, won an official “I’ve been blogged by AgriMarketing Pros” t-shirt. She’s showing it off with Tom Steever, farm broadcaster with Brownfield Network who was also at the luncheon.

200,000,000 Doses Is A Lot of Doses

Chuck Zimmerman

Novartis is running a special promotion to celebrate the success of Vira Shield. I don’t know all the ways this will be promoted but I think a Talking News Release would be a good idea!

Vira Shield Sweepstakes

Vira Shield® celebrates 200 millionth dose with Legacy of Leadership sweepstakes

GREENSBORO, NC (May 2, 2005) – This year, cattle producers will buy the 200 millionth dose of Vira Shield®. To mark this milestone, Novartis Animal Health is sponsoring the Vira Shield Legacy of Leadership sweepstakes.

“Like dairy and beef producers, Novartis’ success is due to building a solid reputation for producing a quality product,” says John Landon, Novartis bovine marketing manager. “The Legacy of Leadership sweepstakes is a special thank you for Vira Shield users, and a way to support the next generation of producers.”

There will be many winners, including five, $5,000 cash for college sweepstakes winners. These are direct cash awards that are not tied to a single institution.
