You know you’ve got the job when they have you send out your own news release! Besides that Andrea has been busy getting the word out for Select Sires.
Doha Trade Talks Weigh On Future Policy Decisions
I sure appreciate the hospitality afforded by AgWired, thanks so much for the opportunity to make some guest posts on your excellent blog.
As Chuck indicated earlier today, I’m Keith Good and I write about current farm policy news events at FarmPolicy.com. I’m a licensed attorney and stay-at-home parent who has been blogging about farm policy for nearly two years. I hope you find the farm policy updates useful.
Beginning To Plan IFAJ 2009
The best way to kick off the planning process for the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists Congress 2009 seemed to be a Friday evening dinner at Cheeseburger In Paradise, Kansas City. Here’s the co-chairs of that planning committee in deep discussion just prior to the start of our after dinner entertainment (more on that). They are Andy Markwart, The Furrow, and Mike Wilson, Prairie Farmer.
Audio Invites From NAFB
The National Association of Farm Broadcasters is gettin’ jiggy with their 2005 Annual Meeting invites! I just got my second one via email and like the other one, it contains audio. Imagine a mostly radio group using audio. Maybe that new E-D has got some new ideas?
Canned Beef On It’s Way To Hurricane Evacuees
Many Americans are working together to help hurricane evacuees and that certainly holds true of people in agriculture as you can see in my last post. The Missouri Beef Industry Council has made a donation of $5,000 through the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association for a program to send beef products with a long shelf life to aid the people in need. This program was initiated by Heartland Farm Foods (Montgomery City, MO) CEO, Mark Uthlaut. In this week’s MBIC Report, Mark discusses how the program came together and the unique canned beef product his company has made available.
Cindy’s Comments From Switzerland
I’ve been trying to get Cindy to start writing on AgWired but she has found other ways to help out with content. However, on this IFAJ Congress trip she decided to at least write one article for me to post for her. In the picture you can see her in the little village where we had lunch yesterday. I’ll have more on that.
Reception In Uebeschi
Swiss hospitality! After our city reception in Thun, we went up the mountainside a little ways to Gasthof Weyersbuhl, a beautiful little house/farm for another reception and dinner. We started out with some refreshments which were different fruit juices but not what we in America would call fruit punch. I really don’t know what they were but they were good.
NAFB Convention Registration Available
If you want to attend this year’s National Association of Farm Broadcasters convention you can register online. The convention will be held as usual at the Westin Crown Plaza in Kansas City, MO, November 9-11.
Welcome New NAFB Executive Director
Let’s welcome the new National Association of Farm Broadcasters executive director, Bill O’Neill! It’s his first day and here’s his letter to the membership.
New ED For NAFB
The National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) officially announced their new Executive Vice President today. He’s Bill O’Neill. I think it’s very interesting to see a broadcast organization (that I’ve long belonged to) hire a “print” person. There are certainly challenges ahead for NAFB and maybe Bill can bring some new ideas to the organization to help them out! Look for an interview with Bill here as soon as I can get in touch with him. Gene, good job in the interim. I agree with Emery.
