I’ve been meaning to write about this for a while. I know some of you companies out there use PR Web. Heck, we’re a proponent and use them as an add-on to our AgNewsWire.AgWired.com service. I am also one of their subscribing reporters. It’s a different world than the old days in media!

Bowled Over By BIO
I was pretty psyched up to attend BIO 2006 but it’s not looking good. I need a sponsor and none has been forthcoming. This would be one awesome event to blog. I proposed it to BIO but never even received an acknowledgement of my emailed proposal. However, I am credentialed. It’s not too late if anyone would like to have this huge event properly blogged.
Nitragin Media Kit On A Memory Stick
The folks at AdFarm covered all the bases when it came time to send out news on Nitragin’s acquisition of Agribiotics, Inc. Not only did they include acquisition information but also product information.
Auburn Student Blogger Critiques Us
I know that Auburn University has people who get new media. A trackback to a post on AgNewsWire.AgWired.com.com alerted me to an example of it. It led me to Auburn public relations student, Lara’s Blog. Lara had to critique an audio news release (what we call a Talking News Release) and she found one we produced and distributed for the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council.
Keep Your iPressroom Updated
I have never used iPressroom but their news release just came in and prompted me to write about a frustration I’m having today. In their release they say “. . . reports a sharp rise in the number of inquiries for “Internet Pressroom Solutions” over the last three months, outpacing the number of incoming requests for “News Wire Distribution” for the first time in the company’s history.”
Get Some Elvis PR In Graceland
Have you registered for the Agricultural Relations Council meeting in Memphis yet? Time’s a wasting. You’ve got until March 3 to get the convention rate at the hotel. They’ve got a full program on public relations lined up including one with Kevin Kern, Media Coordinator for Elvis Presley Enterprises.
News Release Follow Up Quandry
I’m back from the east coast and catching up on email and news feeds. I just had to post some links about a topic I first saw on “Church of the Customer.” It’s about following up on press releases with reporters. A subject near and dear to my heart. In fact, this was a topic in most of my meetings this week.
Put Your News Release In Front of the Farmer
Just a couple weeks ago we announced AgNewsWire.AgWired.com, your national ag news distribution service. We’ve definitely opened some eyes and created the very excitement that we hoped we would.
PR Newswire Now Podcasting Audio Releases
I’ve been meaning to tell you about this but that trip to Switzerland kind of got in the way. If you’re involved in any type of public relations efforts then you probably know about PR Newswire. They’ve started doing something very logical and something we’ve been preaching for the last year and a half. They’re pushing the creation and distribution of audio (and video) news releases!! We call them Talking News Releases and we directly email them to reporters. PR Newswire is producing them as fully voiced news “stories” that may include company representative sound bites. We do that when appropriate too.
