DTN, Progressive Farmer To Hold Inaugural Ag Summit

DTNFarmers and growers will have the opportunity to talk business, politics and more at the first-annual DTN/Progressive Farmer Ag Summit. Mark your calendars for early December.

DTN and The Progressive Farmer magazine announced today that it will host its first agriculture summit on December 5-7 at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel in Chicago.

The Progressive Farmer MagazineThe 2007 DTN/Progressive Farmer Ag Summit, “Grow and Prosper: Producer Strategies for High-Risk, High-Reward Agriculture,” will help growers identify grain industry trends for 2008 and refine their marketing and business strategies to deal with them.

Summit events include farmer panels and informative break-out sessions. Farmer panels will focus on integrating new management models and technology into farm expansion, advances in precision guidance system technology and new strategies for merchandising and marketing grain.

A new farm bill is on the horizon and revised FSA payment rules, payment rates and conservation programs will all change your economic equation over the next five years. Learn how to comply from one of the nation’s premiere farm program consultants.

·”Where Land Markets are Headed Now” pairs Murray Wise, CEO of the Westchester Group, with Porter Martin, with the farm management firm of Martin, Goodrich & Waddell. Hear them debate views on land markets and how these trends will impact land values and leasing terms for 2008.

·”Stay Out of Vegas When Marketing Grain” features DTN’s senior market analyst Darin Newsom. Newsom will discuss the 2008 market outlook and the ramifications volatility brings to using future markets, options and cash markets as producers implement risk management.

·”Odds for Weather Extremes” with DTN meteorologist Bryce Anderson will explore the chances for a La Nina year and discuss which early indicators growers should watch in order to keep a step ahead of market reaction.

·”Assessing Character,” a motivational presentation by former University of Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne, will teach the psychology business owners can use to assemble winning teams with business partners and employees.

Registration fee for the 2007 DTN/Progressive Farmer Ag Summit is $395 which includes refreshments, meals and program materials. Early bird registration is $345 before November 8.
