Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Johanns, was a busy man this week. Besides the Energy Conference in St. Louis he did a bunch of appointing.
Advancing Renewable Energy in St. Louis

The US Secretaries of Agriculture and Energy are the hosts of the Advancing Renewable Energy Conference in St. Louis this week. Both addressed the crowd, estimated at upwards of 1500 people, showing the huge interest in renewable energy nationwide.

Just last month USDA announced loans for the development of rural broadband. At the end of last week they announced more.

$8.9 Million For Rural Broadband
Just last Friday I asked Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Johanns, what he thinks about farmers using computers and the internet and he responded with a personal anecdote. When I got back to the office I had a news release from USDA in my inbox announcing some more money provide for “BROADBAND “COMMUNITY CONNECT” GRANTS.”

Right now we just learned that the St. Louis Agribusiness Club leader of the year award is going to Sen. Jim Talent who couldn’t be with us today. That’s too bad since he is such a big supporter of agribusiness in the state of Missouri.
