It must be nice to pick up 20,000 customers just like that. That’s what DTN Meteorlogix just did by obtaining the customers of Surface Systems, Inc.
Agritalk’s Barn of the Week
Here’s where AgriTalk host Mike Adams worked when he was growing up (has he actually stopped growing up?). This is good to know because it’s an example of pictures you’ll start finding on the AgriTalk website. It’s a new feature they have called “Barn of the Week.”
Shinn Joins Brownfield
He’s a great farm broadcaster and I know he’ll do a good job for Brownfield. He’s Peter Shinn and no longer with the NAFB. Peter is now going to be the farm director for Waitt Agribusiness. Okay Learfield people, is it Brownfield or Waitt?
XM Satellite Radio Booth
I told you I would stop in at the XM Satellite Radio studio.
DTN Hires Matthew Herman
DTN has a new VP for agribusiness advertising. He’s Matthew Herman and he’ll be based out of the Minneapolis office.
Buckeye Ag Event Blogger
I’m wondering if someday our journalism schools will teach event blogging. Probably not until they hire professors who can do it themselves? I noticed that Andy Vance over at Buckeye Ag Radio Network is making the media transition it takes to do more than just one kind of reporting. He’s been blogging the Ohio FFA Convention.
Doing The Brownfield Boogie
I did make it to the Brownfield reception at last week’s NAMA Conference but without my camera. That’s a rare thing with this blogger. But I was promised a picture and it just showed up in my inbox.
FCC Comment Period on RFD-TV
According to a release from Farm Journal Media, the FCC has issued a Public Notice on Farm Journal Media’s November 29, 2005, Petition for Declaratory Ruling with respect to the non-commercial set-aside eligibility of RFD-TV. I guess this means the FCC is looking for your thoughts on the matter. I really don’t have much other information on the background for this or the potential impact on RFD-TV. If you do, please feel free to leave a comment.
Brownfield Acquires Waitt Farm Network
In the big keep getting bigger department and just received before I could turn my computer off: Learfield Communications announces the acquisition of the Waitt Farm Network. It looks like this gives Kim Lang something new to do. We wouldn’t want her sitting around idle now would we? The network operates in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota and was purchased from NRG Media.
Lost and Lonely Farm Broadcaster
Sitting here in my Dallas/Ft. Worth airport office (gate a-34) I look up and see lonely lost farm broadcaster. He’s Dave Schumacher, KTRS, St. Louis and now he’s getting a blogging lesson on our way to Anaheim.
