Agricultural media are invited to get their registrations in for the upcoming National Pork Industry Forum. I’m afraid I won’t be able to attend this one but hopefully we’ll get some information to share with you. The National Pork Industry Forum will be held March 1-3 at Hilton Anaheim Hotel in Anaheim, Calif. The theme for Forum is: “Accountability, Trust …
UglyRipe Wins The Fight
You might remember the good old UglyRipe and the battle its developers were having with the Florida Tomato Committee. Well it looks like tasty but ugly wins out.
Perrin At Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association
I may be in Berlin posting from an IFAJ meeting and International Green Week but I’m still going to have other news posts too. Like this one about Lisa Perrin’s new gig with the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association. She’ll be their marketing communications manager.
National Corn Marketer
The National Corn Growers Association is familiar to just about everyone in agriculture but how many of you know how their marketing department works? To find out what they do there in St. Louis I dropped in and spoke with NCGA Vice President of Marketing, Fred Stemme. Fred used to work here in mid Missouri for the Missouri Corn Growers Association before getting his job with the national organization.
Thinking About National Agriculture Day

That’s why I thought we should think about National Agriculture Day which is coming up in just a couple months.
Nutrena Iron Horse Award Winner
I’m sure you know that we built a blog for the Appaloosa Horse Club and I think Steve Taylor and company are off to a good start with it. So we now get their announcements like this one about the Nutrena Iron Horse Award. I’ve heard of an iron man competition but this is the first I’ve heard of an iron horse competition.
www.animalag.org
Since animal agriculture represents the biggest market for soybeans, the United Soybean Board is making sure there’s a good online resource for the industry. I assume this is part of their animal ag initiative.
Corn Photo Contest Winner
Peggy Bellar is welcome to submit photos for me to use on AgWired anytime. She’s a winner once again.
Research Beef Online
As if the Beef Checkoff doesn’t have enough websites, now there’s one more. I’m really not sure I understand the philosophy behind the whole multiple website strategy. This one focuses on research. You can find a lead-in site to all of them at Beef.org (16 just for the Checkoff).
My Niche is Barbeque
To me, barbeque is a niche product and one I really enjoy. I’m not sure that’s exactly what NichePork has in mind though. But to find out I could attend the NichePork Pork Producer Conference on Jan. 23, 2007, at the Ramada Conference Center in Bryan-Montpelier, Ohio.
