The National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) this week announced the resignation of Kansas farmer David Schemm as president of the organization to “pursue other professional opportunities in his home state of Kansas.”

“During his time as President of NAWG, David helped move the wheat industry forward, grew its presence on Capitol Hill, and improved its relationship with the media and other farm organizations,” said NAWG CEO Chandler Goule. “Schemm constantly worked to get NAWG’s priorities and messaging out by participating in weekly interviews, testifying on behalf of the organization to Congress, and took every opportunity to talk to Members and Agency officials on the importance of reauthorizing the Farm Bill.” Goule says NAWG past president Gordon Stoner of Montana will assume duties and role of president until the next officer election at the 2018 Commodity Classic.

Schemm was elected at this year’s Classic and was at the Farm Progress Show doing interviews and talking about wheat industry priorities for the 2018 farm bill. Chuck interviewed him there and he became a member of the Golden Mic club. Interview with David Schemm, NAWG at 2017 FPS
