Boy am I glad I waited until today to drive up to Des Moines. I haven’t seen so many cars off the highway waiting on tow trucks in a long time. Road conditions must have been pretty rough last night. There’s really not that much snow on the ground but it’s still pretty windy. Back at home we got nothing out of the forecast 6 inches of snow. This is not a complaint.

This post isn’t being written by Margy Fischer. It’s being written about her. You will remember Margy from her coverage of Commodity Classic on AgWired. Margy will be graduating soon and just announced that she’s got a job.

Okay so it’s a St. Patrick’s day Friday night and I’m posting. Workaholic. Not really. Just learning how to convert a movie to my iPod. Although I don’t have green beer at least it’s in a green bottle.

Our New Holland “Down on the Farm” Classic iPod Keepsake Contest officially ends this evening. We’ll be announcing the winner on National Agriculture Day, March 20 so keep on the lookout and keep your fingers crossed. Thanks to all of you who have entered.

We’ve got some pretty good website statistics software but I’ve been wanting to compare it with some others. I am tired of waiting to be invited to Google Analytics and thanks to a heads up from our web developer I’m giving Performancing Metrics, a new blog statistics service, a try. I just got tired of being invited to Google Analytics.

If I hadn’t been having so much sinus trouble this winter I would have passed this by but somehow the idea of hot peppers and a sinus spray just grabbed my attention. I would be seriously afraid to try Sinusbuster. Sometimes you wonder what’s worse, the cure or the disease.

When a conference has a program titled, “Beer Tasting 101” it gets my attention. That’s one of the things you can attend in conjunction with the first ever World Grains Summit: Food and Beverages, San Francisco, Sept. 17 – 20. This is a new conference sponsored by AACC International and the Master Brewers Association of the Americas.

I’m sure you’ve heard of PETA. Not the people eating tasty animals folks but the other one. Just to give you an idea of how ridiculous they are I just found out about their latest scam. You can read about it here.

What do you think about the idea of “news briefs?” I did this yesterday and once again today. We’re getting a lot of news here and rather than ignore it I’m borrowing on an idea I’ve seen on other blogs I subscribe to. The idea is to give you a headline/tease with a link to the release or the website where you can find more if you want it. Love to have your feedback.
