Farm broadcasters were busy last week at their convention. NAFB, Executive Director, Bill O’Neill just sent out a report that announces the change in the organization’s name. It’s now the National Association of Farm Broadcasting. This was done he says to better represent the “full inclusion of agribusinesses, marketing and communications agencies, farm organizations, and all “allied” providers who are integral to the business and marketplace of farm and rural lifestyle broadcasting.”
While we were sipping a beverage and bidding someone has to collect and manage the money.
The auction was a very lively one this year. Cliff Mitchell, KASM, is doing the duty in this photo.
People often refer to the NAFB convention as a family affair.
At the NAFB Convention a fun highlight is the Foundation auction. One of the items they auction off is the use of a McCormick tractor for a year. Here’s Southeast AgNet’s Gary Cooper trying it out beforehand to see if it’s what he needs back home.
Earlier this week we alerted you to the new promotion that New Holland’s doing with the new Michael Peterson album. Here’s Cindy and me with Michael earlier today after I got to interview him. That’s one of those interviews that I hope to have for you soon.
Here’s an early picture of the AGCO crew at Trade Talk. They look fresh and ready to go. I wonder what an “after” picture would look like?
This is pretty much the pose you see at a Trade Talk booth. Here’s NAFB president, Emery Kleven, conducting an interview.
The NAFB convention is underway here in Kansas City and one of the first main activities is Trade Talk. This is a unique trade show where companies and organizations exhibit with representatives who are available to be interviewed by the attending broadcasters who hopefully will use the interviews in their broadcasts, or in our case, podcasts.
Maybe this is the last NAFB convention audio invitation? Who knows. They just keep coming. With all this effort I’m expecting to see about 10,000 of you there next week. This one is from Orion Samuelson, who talks about the NAFB Foundation Auction. Orion has been a foundation supporter for a long time.
