Pioneer Launches New Optimum Brand Innovations Products
Pioneer recently launched several new products within their Optimum Brand Innovations line. I was able to speak with Tracy Lindo, the Senior Marketing Manager – Optimum GAT about these new products. “Optimum Brand Innovations is the umbrella brand for our high quality input traits that Pioneer is hoping to bring to the market in the next few years,” explained Linbo. The first product is Optimum GAT, a herbicide tolerance trait. “GAT” stands for glyphosate ALS tolerance. The uniqueness of this trait is that it, “provides new herbicide choices and flexibility,” said Lindo.
The second trait is the Optimum Acre Max, which provides an insect protection system. These products will be brought to market pending approvals over the next few years.
These traits, explained Lindo, provide maximum yields, “the right product for the right acre, and cleaner fields through harvest.”
Pending approvals, Pioneer hopes to have the GAT for corn available in the 2010 selling season and GAT soybeans in 2011.
In addition, DuPont Crop Protection is bringing five new herbicides that will be available to be used on this trait as well. There will be demonstrations throughout the summer. Contact your local Pioneer sales rep to learn more or visit www.pioneer.com.

FINNALLY!!! something other than Monsanto!!!
Chuck
Interesting comment since we’ve only done 3 posts about Monsanto in the last 80.

I heard that Pioneer’s “refuge in a bag” application to the EPA was rejected. Dow apparently had some major reservations with Pioneer’s approach. I also heard rumors that Pioneer is yanking back some delivered seed. What’s that about?
Chuck
I don’t know Charlie but I’ll pose the question and see what the response is and post here.

Hey Charlie:
Here’s Pioneer’s response:
To date, the EPA has not yet delivered its final determination on registration of Optimum AcreMax 1, which is expected in the coming months. Pioneer is optimistic that the full body of information reviewed by the EPA will support the 2009 registration of an integrated, reduced refuge product followed by a commercial introduction in 2010.
The EPA has indicated support for the Pioneer integrated and reduced corn rootworm (CRW) refuge concept. Both of these signals from the EPA are very encouraging as no other company has ever received a registration for an in-the-bag, integrated refuge or reduction in CRW refuge.
Optimum AcreMax 1 insect protection continues to progress towards commercialization by meeting regulatory milestones, including the current EPA review of the science behind the Optimum AcreMax 1 system.
Pioneer has a long-standing policy of not responding to rumors.
