Protect That IP Today
Every day has to be some sort of “day” anymore. Today it’s World Intellectual Property Day according to the World Intellectual Property Organization. Here’s what their Director General, Kamil Idris, says, “World Intellectual Property Day is an opportunity to encourage people to think about the role played by intellectual property in everyday life, and about its importance in stimulating and safeguarding innovation and creativity.” They’ve even got a 30 sec video clip you can watch here (WMV file).
KC Marching Cobras
At first I thought the World Famous Willie Arthur Smith Marching Cobras were a distraction for a trade show but then I realized we needed a diversion and everyone seemed to really enjoy them. They entertained us at the closing session of the NAMA Connection Point.
Best of NAMA Awards Ceremony
The Best of NAMA Awards is over. It was a very well done event with a great reception afterwards.
Puerto Rico Governor Wins BIO Award
During BIO 2006, Puerto Rico Gov. Aníbal Acevedo-Vilá was named BIO Governor of the Year. I missed him and the reception to honor him but caught up with his Secretary of Economic Development, Jorge P. Silva-Puras.
Closing Reception Band
Iowa was the sponsoring state for the closing reception. They hired a great band to play on the main stage.

On my way out of the reception I found some new things. Like this lone drummer/performer.

This performance was very cool and my favorite of the night.
