It looks like Jeff Caldwell has the “right stuff” for Meredith.
Margy Fischer In The Field
Maybe you remember student blogger on AgWired, Margy Fischer? She helped me cover Commodity Classic this year.
Farm Journal In Elite 25
Farm Journal Media just announced that Farm Journal has received a distinction that puts it into an elite publication group. It is the only agricultural magazine to be recognized in the list.
African Dairy Editor Honored
The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists has presented a special award to their regional vice president for Africa. I’m taking this from their latest newsletter and thought you might be interested since Reg Weiss, has been honoured for his contributions to agriculture and specifically the South African dairy industry during 58 years in active journalism.
Industry Leader Eileen Shay
Eileen Shay is now a leader. Actually as senior account executive for The Packer I’d guess she already was one. But now she’s graduated from United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association’s Produce Industry Leadership Program. She was one of 12 distinguished leaders from the produce industry to be part of the 2005-2006 class, and the first person from The Packer to participate.

Fastline Is Now Online
Another publication group moves into the digital age. Fastline Publications now has a digital version of their publications. I wonder how many farmers will want the digital version only? Think of the potential cost savings on printing!
Search Engine For Agriculture
I really like the explosion of web apps we’re seeing in agriculture today. Farm Journal Media just announced their AgWeb Search engine and I tried it out right away.
The Taco Tuinstra Tobacco Tour Blog
Fellow blogger Matt Mullen brought the African tobacco tourning tales of Taco Tuinstra to my attention. “He is on a tour of tobacco farms and leaf dealers in southern Africa right now and has set up a blog to chronicle his travels. Pretty cool that technology today allows you to do some of this stuff, even from places that remote.”
