Today has been a relatively quiet day here in Indianapolis. Except for the annual parade that is. This fine looking group found a shady spot to watch. Included in the picture are EPIC and RFA staffers and ethanol powered vehicle drivers.
Carb Day Practicing
It’s Miller Lite Carb Day at the track. For an hour this morning all the cars in the race Sunday got to put in some laps.
Indy Track Gas Pump
Have you ever wondered how you fill up a race car in Indianapolis? Just like you do. Well, not during the race.
Bobby Likes Ethanol
The co-owner of Rahal-Letterman Racing is Bobby Rahal. After today’s press conference I got to interview him about what ethanol means to his team and the IRL.
Danica Patrick Drives ‘Em Crazy
In response to multiple request from AgWired fans, I had to make sure we featured Danica. I think there’s a kind of Danica fever going around these days. She’s featured in USA Today’s Speed Weekend and also on the Friday cover. She’s hoping to improve on her 4th place finish here last year.
100+ MPH In The Pace Truck
This will be all for a little while until I get back to my hotel. It looked like it was going to rain here but now the sun is back out and cars are on the track running practice laps. I think I’ll head on out to see who’s running before leaving for the day.
Ethanol Indy Car Update
Jeff Simmons, driver of the Rahal-Letterman Ethanol Car was on hand today to talk about how things are going. I interviewed him just after the Ethanol Summit concluded.
USDA Sec Dorr Interview
The keynote speaker today at the Ethanol Summit here at the Indianapolis Speedway was USDA Under Secretary Tom Dorr (pictured to the right of NCGA Chairman, Leon Corzine).
Farmer Owned Ethanol Plant CEO
I hope you like to hear about the promotion of ethanol because we’re certainly going to have a lot of that over the coming days. In my lead-up to the Indy 500 I want you to meet the President of the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council. He’s Tom Branhan, CEO of Glacial Lakes Energy, a farmer-owned ethanol plant in Watertown, SD.
Rookie Driver Gets Milk
I won’t be in Indianapolis until tomorrow evening but agriculture was on display today. The fastest rookie was honored by the American Dairy Association of Indiana. He’s Marco Andretti and he’s winner number 32. I thought it was interesting that they pointed out that although ethanol has been getting a lot of attention they were the first ag commodity associated with the race.
