The Ethanol ShowA new exhibit out here at the Farm Progress Show was put together in just the last 45 days by FlexFuel Motors.

The man who’s the inspiration and work horse behind it is Tad Whitten, Motor Sports Management, Inc. Besides having a variety of vehicles on display that utilize ethanol or biodiesel, he built a replica of the first ethanol filling station which was in Nebraska. As you can see in the picture he’s found pumps and other original equipment and even built the building as close to as possible to the original as he could.

It seems like the number 17 Team Ethanol Indy Car is all over the place. It’s here on display at the Farm Progress Show courtesy of the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC). Steve Peterson Getting Interviewedwhile it was raining this morning the media was nicely cooped up in the media tent. I’m sure this didn’t disappoint Monsanto since they had the first press conference. One of the their representatives I met was Steve Peterson, Monsanto business manager for their Processor Preferred program. Steve’s pictured here during an interview with WITY. In my interview with Steve he describes how this program has developed about 90 varieties of corn that are yielding up to 2 to 4 percent more ethanol per bushel than conventional hybrids. He says this helps corn growers get a premium for their crops.

Biofuels Day In Kansas City

Wayne TeddyIt has been a biofuels kind of day for ZimmComm. Cindy and I have been here in Kansas City all day. I first went to the announcement ceremony for the proposed Cargill/Paseo Biofuels biodiesel plant which would be built adjacent to the existing Cargill soybean processing facility in north Kansas City. Michigan Governor Pumps Ethanol

MI Governor Jennifer GranholmAt yesterday’s ethanol pump promotion Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, lent a hand. She pumped gas along with several Indy Car drivers like Kosuke Matsura, Vitor Meira, Buddy Rice and Jeff Simmons. There was a lot of media on hand. In this picture I was asking the questions and taking the picture. My mic is one of the ones you see. We got 231 cars through between 11:15am and 12:45pm and pumped 3,202 gallons of E10.
