- The National Organic Coalition and Center for Food Safety are announcing more than 200,000 individuals have contacted the USDA saying they disapprove of the government’s potential deregulation of Monsanto’s Genetically Engineered Roundup Ready Alfalfa.
- Syngenta Seeds, Inc. released performance data for the Aphid Management System.
- The Pork Checkoff will honor Dale Miller, editor of National Hog Farmer, as the winner of its Distinguished Service Award. He will be recognized at the National Pork Industry Forum, March 4-6, 2010.
- The National Pork Board recognized the latest class of Environmental Steward Award winners at the National Pork Industry Forum. These winners exemplify excellence in environmental care and conservation in pork production. - The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives launched a campaign to tell the story of this country’s 2,500 farmer cooperatives to policy makers, government officials, and the American public. Based around the theme of “Farmer Cooperatives: Providing for America”, the campaign will emphasize the central role that co-ops play in preserving the family farm, supporting the rural economy, and bringing innovative products to consumers in the U.S. and around the world.
- The American Humane Association and the Federation of Animal Science Societies (FASS) praised the new HBO movie, Temple Grandin, which aired Saturday, Feb. 6.

- BASF has announced increased support of Operation S.A.F.E. (Self-Regulating Application and Flight Efficiency) fly-ins by incentivizing aerial applicators who participate in Operation S.A.F.E. fly-ins. The provided financial support can be used by participating aerial applicators towards membership in NAAA or for new spray equipment.
- The Association of Equipment Manufacturers has recognized two U.S. conservation districts for efficient equipment use that enhances local conservation efforts.

- Monsanto Company announced it has received approval from the U.S. EPA for the sales of a new formulation of acetochlor for early post-emergence use in cotton and soybeans. The product will be marketed as MON 63410 Herbicide for the 2010 growing season.
- Extreme Makeover Home Edition has just “knocked on the door” of the home of Brian and Audra Skaggs, Lexington, Okla., active in the Limousin breed and a familiar face in the cattle industry.
