It seems like the number 17 Team Ethanol Indy Car is all over the place. It’s here on display at the Farm Progress Show courtesy of the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC). The man who’s been touring this around is Alan Slunecka, farmer and brother to EPIC Executive Director, Tom Slunecka. The vehicle here has a simulator attached and …
Get A Premium For Your Corn
while it was raining this morning the media was nicely cooped up in the media tent. I’m sure this didn’t disappoint Monsanto since they had the first press conference. One of the their representatives I met was Steve Peterson, Monsanto business manager for their Processor Preferred program. Steve’s pictured here during an interview with WITY. In my interview with Steve he describes how this program has developed about 90 varieties of corn that are yielding up to 2 to 4 percent more ethanol per bushel than conventional hybrids. He says this helps corn growers get a premium for their crops.
Debunking The Food vs. Fuel Myth
The incoming 1st Vice President of the National Corn Growers Association is Ron Litterer, Greene, IA. I talked to Ron about the impact of using more and more corn for fuel and what his thoughts are on the issue of how that affects other uses of the commodity. Ron’s being interviewed here by Tom Steever of Brownfield Ag News.
Iowa Corn Fueled IRL Race
The Iowa Corn Growers will be the title sponsor for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 next year at the new Iowa Speedway in Newton. Iowa Corn, Iowa Speedway, and the Indy Racing League made the announcement yesterday at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.
Ethanol Advocate Passes Away
Since I’ve featured a post here about Steve King I thought I’d let you know some sad news. Steve, King Racing, was involved in a bad accident last evening at the 46th Annual Knoxville Nationals. I’ll just use the statement on the website:
Biofuels Day In Kansas City
It has been a biofuels kind of day for ZimmComm. Cindy and I have been here in Kansas City all day. I first went to the announcement ceremony for the proposed Cargill/Paseo Biofuels biodiesel plant which would be built adjacent to the existing Cargill soybean processing facility in north Kansas City. Then I joined Cindy at the American Coalition for Ethanol conference which is also taking place here. You can find more coverage on Domestic Fuel.
An EPIC Retreat
Here’s a fine looking group. We just completed the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council agency retreat in Omaha. EPIC is taking a very creative approach to the agency relationship. They’re having a number of “agencies” work very closely together to provide the organization with a variety of services.
Client Meeting In Omaha
Hello from Omaha. It’s a rare opportunity for both of us to travel together (Chuck & Cindy) but it happens. We’re spending a day doing some creative strategy with the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council. That may mean that posting will be light.
Michigan Governor Pumps Ethanol
At yesterday’s ethanol pump promotion Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, lent a hand. She pumped gas along with several Indy Car drivers like Kosuke Matsura, Vitor Meira, Buddy Rice and Jeff Simmons. There was a lot of media on hand. In this picture I was asking the questions and taking the picture. My mic is one of the ones you see. We got 231 cars through between 11:15am and 12:45pm and pumped 3,202 gallons of E10.
Learning About Syngenta Seed
The final stage of our media day at Syngenta Biotechnology, Inc. was an opportunity for interviews. A couple of the guys escaped me but I have several for you.
