It’s time to save the Pallid Sturgeon on the Missouri River. At least that’s what it sounds like a bunch of concerned wildlife people want. This is moving pretty quick. This being an attempt to develop a man-made spring rise on the Missouri River. This could put an additional one to three feet of water on the river which would cause river bottom farm land flooding.

This is also the topic of CornTalk, the weekly program for the Missouri Corn Growers Association. In this week’s program I interview Bob Bacon, with the Coalition To Protect The Missouri River. Bob has serious concerns about how quickly this plan is moving and the impact it will have on Missouri farmers. He’s asking for people to get involved and make their concerns known. Go here for more information.

The grand opening of Mid-Missouri Energy (MME) last Friday was a major milestone for the renewable fuels industry in Missouri. State and federal officials, as well as farmers, business leaders and curious onlookers, packed a massive tent to talk about the importance of the ethanol and the impact plants such as MME have on communities. In this week’s CornTalk, I’ve got interviews with Missouri Governor Matt Blunt and U. S. Congressman Kenny Hulshof. Both individuals ask the question, “Why are we continuing to look to the Mideast for our energy needs when we can look right here to the Midwest?”
